Bob Baker [Independent Labor Consusltant]

Bob Baker is the former President of the Los Angeles Police Protective League.  He was instrumental in defeating pension takeaways, obtaining for its members the Deferred Retirement Option Program (DROP) and implementing flexible work schedules.  During his tenure as its President, Bob managed a $10.3 million budget and helped build LAPPL in to a power broker within the City’s political structure, successfully working to pass a number of important ballot measures.

During his distinguished 37-year career with the Los Angeles Police Department Bob worked varied assignments, including as a supervising detective in narcotics.  He was also highly regarded for his successes identifying and dismantling criminal organizations and individual operations engaged in fraud schemes against some of the nation's largest financial institutions. Bob retired from LAPD in 2007 and was tapped by Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley to be his agency’s Law Enforcement Training Coordinator, a position he still holds. 

Bob is an independent consultant that has been retained by Silver Hadden Silver Wexler + Levine to use his unique insights and skills to assist the firm’s clients with running their labor organizations, counseling clients about political matters and advising on other complex issues.
